Guest yaro137@googlemail.com Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 We have a server that needs to run with the administrator account logged in at all time because of some third-party software. For that reason I would like to get rid of the Log Off button. I tried adjusting the group policy for the server but it didn's work. Is there any other way, maybe some registry edit? Thanks yaro

Hello yaro137@googlemail.com, I think you can not remove it for the administrator and even if done anybody can get it back because it is the administrator. I would try the way tro install the software as a service so that there is no need for it. Best would be to lock it up physically so they can't get at it, but you could also just disconnect the keyboard. It should be locked (via Windows-L or ctrl-alt-del) so non-admins can't get at the log in. Assuming that this machine is running Server and not a Workstation version of Windows, if you log in to it remotely to run your software instead of from the console, the login won't even show on the console and people could even still log in locally on the console without disturbing the remote login running the software.
