Guest wesmo Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 I run a D Link router and when I install the latest service pack, the router will not load up. Any suggestions? Should I just not run the update?

Any suggestions? Should I just not run the update? There is nothing that is supposed to "load up" when you connect any PC to a router. Do you mean you do not get an "IP" from the router or can you not access the router's internal web pages? Check the firewall software and any anti-virus software? (I know that a D-Link router works since I am using a DIR-615!!!)

Any suggestions? Should I just not run the update? What happen if you open your browser and type in the address bar the IP 192.168.1.1 Are you able to access the router page? What if after installing the Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) http://support.dlink.com/faq/view.asp?prod_id=3002&orig=1 on the Run command type in: ipconfig /flushdns click [OK] ipconfig /renew click [OK] netsh winsock reset click [OK] Reboot your machine and see if you can access any website/link easily and without the cannot connect error message. or this tool (winsock-Fix) from here: http://www.nasstec.co.uk/tools.html Reboot your machine and see if the webpages will display. If that doesn't help try these steps: = Power or unplug the Power cord for the Router/Modem for about 40 seconds or so be generous with it <g> turn the computer OFF and wait for the time to go by!!. Then Turn the Router/Modem ON and wait a minute or so then Power ON the computer and try to establish a connection and try the link, does it work?.
