Guest someone watching Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 Looking to buy an IBM laptop with Intel's 915 chipset. IBM's web site shows support/compatibility from W2K upward, no W98 support (I guess because of the chipset). Googled for info, found some but there is still a question about proper USB2 support (seems you can get 1.1 but not 2) and ANY audio support (there is none!). Decided to ask here; anybody ever try to get 98 running with Intel's 915 chipset? Did you succeed? You know where drivers are available? Thanks

I've seen conflicting info regarding win-98 drivers for the 915 chipset. It might depend on the particular sub-model of the 915. You might want to search previous posts on this web-forum: http://www.msfn.org/board/Windows-95-98-98SE-ME-f8.html Have a look at these: http://www.msfn.org/board/Intel-915-chipset-based-boards-t65914.html http://www.msfn.org/board/lofiversion/index.php/t33369.html http://www.msfn.org/board/How-to-install-intel-915gm-graphics-adap-t89665.html or wade through these: http://tinyurl.com/67tfvm
