Laura Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Hi. I've got a hp Dv6-6b58sa which I've only had for 3 days. It is loaded with windows 7 home premium. I have been doing a lot of downloads which I think is what caused my problem. I cannot turn on the laptop. It says that I need to reinstall windows by running the installation disc. But, it didn't come with a disc? Does this mean I'm going to have to buy it separately? Thanks. Quote
Jelly Bean Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Hello and welcome... If you do not have recovery disks they can be ordered from HP.... RandyL Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 In addition to Jelly Bean... I've only had for 3 days Once you get it working you can create recovery disks in case you need them again using the Recovery Manager. It should be in your Start>All programs list. KenB Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 I've only had for 3 days. If this is a new machine it is still under warranty. Downloading in itself, will not cause a system to suddenly fail. It says that I need to reinstall windows As Nev says - posts the error message. Do you have any files / data on the drive that you would want to recover? If you need to return the machine to the retailer - they may reinstall the Operating System and you will lose all data.
