Guest Laura Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Hi: I'm trying to install a printer, on Windows Server 2003, for a user wich belongs to "Remote Desktop User" group. I run this command: rundll32 printui.dll PrintUIEntry /if /f %windir%\inf\ntprint.inf /r "IP_192.49.9.89" /m "HP LaserJet 2100" The TCP/IP port is not installed before I run this command, because, if I add the port with Admin account the port is going to be accessible to all profiles of the others users A message appears "Operations could not be completed", then the printer is not added. The final goal, is to install on the user profile a printer that will be accessed by a TCP/IP address.

Guest Dusko Savatovic Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 Re: Install Printer Win Server 2003 Perhaps you should consider adjusting permissions on the printer. For example, you can remove default permissions and set specific permissions: - UserGroupXYZ - Print Permission - Administrators - Print, Manage Documents, Manage Printers "Alan Morris [MSFT]" <alanmo@online.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:eARH5tHCJHA.4780@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... > Ports and drivers can only be added by Admin and Power Users account > users. > > -- > Alan Morris > Windows Printing Team > Search the Microsoft Knowledge Base here: > http://support.microsoft.com/search/?adv=1 > > This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no > rights. > > "Laura" <lememhn@newsgroups.nospam> wrote in message > news:%23YTbeRGCJHA.1816@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... >> Hi: >> >> I'm trying to install a printer, on Windows Server 2003, for a user wich >> belongs to "Remote Desktop User" group. >> >> I run this command: >> >> rundll32 printui.dll PrintUIEntry /if /f %windir%\inf\ntprint.inf /r >> "IP_192.49.9.89" /m "HP LaserJet 2100" >> >> The TCP/IP port is not installed before I run this command, because, if I >> add the port with Admin account the port is going to be accessible to all >> profiles of the others users >> >> A message appears "Operations could not be completed", then the printer >> is not added. >> >> The final goal, is to install on the user profile a printer that will be >> accessed by a TCP/IP address. >> >> > >
