Guest Bob Speck Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 During the boot procedure I get a message that says, "The system could not log you on. Make sure your user name and domain are correct. Then type your password again." This message appears in front of the log on to windows with my user name and password filled in. I click on OK and then get a screen showing my user name and a picture. I am told to click on my user name and then get a message saying my personal settings are being loaded. How can I avoid getting the message that says the system could not log me on. I do not want any interruptions in the boot procedure. Bob Speck

You subsequently changed your password, without marking the change in the automated logon process. If you used the automated process built into WinXP then you must now do this: 1. Click Start / Run 2. Type this: control userpasswords2{OK} 3. Tick the box that requires users to set a password. 4. Single-click your logon name. 5. Untick the box that requires users to set a password. 6. Click OK. 7. Enter your current password when prompted. 8. Keep this note for future reference . . .

They have no effect when you use other automatic processes, e.g. TweakUI. How did you first automate your logon process? What tool did you use?
