Guest KenP Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 Does anyone know whether or not running a repair from the CD will reset the LOGON password? I've tried everything to get around my forgotten password but nothing works to-date. Any other suggestions will be appreciated. KenP

Repair will fix only the files that are found from comparing with the ones on the CD. Passwords are not in any files on the CD. You will need to locate some type of password reset CD tool. This would be a Linux boot CD with the tools for accessing the user accounts / password and give you the possibility to change / remove password. Also, you might want to try to use the standard built-in Administrator account. Every XP has this standard account and if you were using a separate account that you lose the password, this account will allow your to change passwords.
Guest KenP Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 Re: XP Media Center Logon Only problem is no matter how I start PC (Start Mode or ???), it does not come up to any screen but Log On To Windows window and I've tried every combo I can think of and can't get logged on. Safe Mode should display more than one account. Administrator account is usually a "blank" password on most set ups.
