Specs:Intel DZ68BC Desktop board

Intel Quad 1600k CPU and supplied CPU fan

Antec 500W

Integrated graphics (for the moment!)

Kingston 8GB RAM

5 case fans

Hey everyone, this was my first computer build and everything worked fine, got it built in 6 hours and windows installed. CPU temp was running at 85C though, so decided to take a look, removed fan and all seemed fine so was reinstalled.

But now it wont boot... Status code on the MB sticks on 08 (Starting BIOS execution after CPU BIST) and I dont get any display to the monitor however all of the case power is working prefectly as before.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi James

Starting BIOS execution after CPU BIST

This is a CPU Built in Self Test

Obviously it is not passing.

CPU temp was running at 85C

Also indicating a problem with the CPU

Your problem lies with the CPU.

Take it out - clean off the old thermal paste with rubbing alcohol ( any pharmacy ) and apply a very thin layer of thermal paste evenly before re-attaching the heat sink.

Try it again.

Status code on the MB sticks

Can you explain this please.

You say you are getting nothing on the monitor .................

MB sticks .......are you referring to the RAM ?

Do you get any POST beeps at all ? ( assuming that you have an internal battery )
