Guest rfj1001 Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 I can't logon to my user account so I'm using KB304449 to try to restore the system to an earlier point. I can get to the command prompt but if I then type the command : %systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe I get the message command unrecognised. If I go to the C:\windows\system32\restore and then type rstrui.exe I still get the same message. Can SKS tell me what I might need to do to get the rstrui.exe file running /or/ a different way to set the restore point Tx

If it does not exist then you must restore it from your WinXP CD.
Guest Xandros Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 Re: Restoring to a Restore Point using the Command Prompt likely the file is corrupt. Guest RobFJ Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 Re: Restoring to a Restore Point using the Command Prompt I should have made my first post a bit clearer - the rstrui.exee file does exist. Yes, this would have made things much clearer. I also have my serious doubts whether you actually saw a message "command unrecognised". Please quote all error messages verbatim - it makes a big difference!
