Guest IT Staff Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 right-mouse click the desktop of windows 2008, new text document, save it with extension *.bat, but it append with .bat.txt. I understand microsoft concern that text file shld append with .txt. Is there are registry setting to default to the extension we want ? Otherwise i have to go cmd prompt to rename the file extension.

If you open the "Save as Type" box (the one below the "File name" box) and select "All files" then your file will be saved with whatever extension you specify, without ".txt" being appended.
