Guest AV Guy Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 Is there a list of only the basic files need on startup? How do I turn off those I don't need so they don't interfere with what i am working on in XP? thanks

Guest Kelly Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 Re: turning off all unnecessary programs .... XP needs nothing running to boot. Go to Start/Run: msconfig Disable as you wish. Also, while there go to the Services tab, check off hide all ms services and see what is left. All listed there was not installed natively by XP. What problems are you encountering? Normally they aren't going to interfere with anything you're "working on" in XP. It almost sounds like you're shotgunning for a fix rather than figuring the actual reasons for whatever your problem/s is/are.
