Guest gojakie@gmail.com Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 I had to reinsall everything as my computer had a virus. After I installed Windows XP Professional Version 2002, there is no sound and no internet on my computer. My USB port is not working too. When I insert my usb drive, it does not recognize and does not show the removable drive icon on my comptuer --- Device manager shows exclamation mark on the following items: Ethernet Controller PCI Device Video Controller (VGA Compatible) Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller --- I downloaded and ran the Intel Chipset Identification Utility, Version 3.20 to find out my chipset number. On the left, I got four links: Intel Chipset Identification Utility Home (http://support.intel.com/ support/chipsets/inf/chipsetid.htm) Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility Home (http:// support.intel.com/support/chipsets/inf/) Chipsets (http://support.intel.com/support/chipsets/) Support (http://support.intel.com/support/) On the right, I got System Information which says: Detected Chipset: Intel 946GZ Express Chipset (http:// support.intel.com/support/chipsets/sb/CS-022898.htm) Chipset Components: Memory Controller: 82946GZ I/O Controller: Intel 82801GB/GR I/O controller hub (ICH7/ICH7R) SATA Controller found in IDE mode And finally an Exit Button --- For sound, I downloaded audio setup file (AUD_ALL32_5.12.1.5240_PV2) and (AUD_ALLOS_XP_VISTA_5377_PV_REALTEK) from Intel website but during installation, it says no drivers found, reboot and install again. For usb, I downloaded (infinst_autol) but it says, This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. reinstalling the application may fix this problem. For video, I downloaded (winxp_14344) but it says, Error executing the specified program \locals~1\temp\pft42~tmp\setup.exe and then says, unable to execute the specified command line --- It looks like there are some drivers missing. Can somebody tell me what exactly is the problem and where can I get the drivers? Can somebody give me links where I can download all missing drivers?
Guest JS Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 Re: Problem with drivers Where you need to start for drivers is the PC manufacture's or motherboard manufacture's web site and download the correct drivers for your PC. Guest John Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 Re: Problem with drivers when you insert your USB drive right click "my computer" click manage then select "disk management" from the left hand side, check to see if the USB drive is there, if it is then you will need to select a drive letter for that drive then you should be able to see it in "my computer" -- JohnD76 "JS" wrote: > Where you need to start for drivers is the PC manufacture's or motherboard > manufacture's web site and download the correct drivers for your PC. > > JS > > <gojakie@gmail.com> wrote in message > news:706a9b22-74d3-4792-8d68-a64bee884f2b@o40g2000prn.googlegroups.com... > >I had to reinsall everything as my computer had a virus.
