How can one stop the irksome Media Player Upgrade Notifications appearing?

I have MP10 and was never interested in going to MP11, so I used this method

on all the machines that I have.

Another option is XP-Antispy. It will disable update notifications for Windows

Media Player, IE, and turn off a host of other things. *Use with caution.*
