eusetep Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 I recently purchased a Toshiba Laptop which had the user manual as a PDF file. The name of the file is 'UserGuide.pdf (SECURED)'. As such I am unable to print it. I understand the the producer of the file, Toshiba, has the option to secure a PDF file for which a password is created by them to unsecure it. To be expected from Toshiba, a request to enable me to print it has met with no success. They suggested Cool PDF Reader but it doesn't even open the file. How can I print it? Quote
Wizard Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 Use this file link and dowload it Use it to convert your PDF to a word format so you can open it in Microsoft Word and then print it . Quote
Wizard Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 http://www.cutepdf.com/products/cutepdf/writer.asp I am sorry I forgot the link Quote
Wizard Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 Here is a much easier way go to this site and it will automatically convert it to word format . Quote
eusetep Posted February 8, 2012 Author Posted February 8, 2012 CutePDF is a printing option. However, as explained, the file is SECURED and the print command is ghosted and cannot be used. I take it that Ghostscript should convert the file but it is a cli based program and I am not familiar with it. I did download a trial copy of NitroPro7 but when I tried to load the pdf file I got the attached windows. I now realise the only way I could print it out is with the permission password from Toshiba and they will not give it to me. RandyL Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 If Toshiba created the pdf file to be secure and locked the print function that is their right as it is their property. Sorry eusetep. It doesn't make sense to me either why they would do that to a manual but if they won't help you with it I'm afraid we can't either. Have you checked the Toshiba site for your exact model and number to see if they have a printable version. That's sometimes a possibility. Quote We are all members helping other members. KenB Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 eusetep Post the model number of your Toshiba laptop. It may be possible to locate a printable version of the manual. It is odd, to say the least, that Toshiba should have it as "Read Only". Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! Plastic Nev Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 Indeed there may well be a means of getting a printed version by way of a "Crack" that bypasses a security password, and rightly so we cannot help, as that sort of thing is breaking one of the many but odd copyright laws of this world. However, if this PDF was only a few pages, I would suggest taking a selective screen shot of just the text, that would be then in either bitmap or JPG format and printable in the same way as any picture. If a manual of many pages though, well how many months of time have you available?? Nev. Quote Need help with your computer problems? Then why not join Free PC Help.
