Can not see local printer from TS

Hi

My setup is as follows

Terminal Server Installed on Windows 2008 Server

This server is a member server to the AD which is installed on Windows2003 R2

Users are connecting to TS through RDC 6.0

Redirect printers option enabled in RDC client.

On TS Server also printer redirection enabled - Checked on TS Services

configuration- RDP-tcp properties

Initially users were able to access their locally attached printer from TS

session.

Suddenly they don't see their local printers from TS session

All they can only see is "Microsoft XPS Document Writer"

I also checked on Terminal Server - Printers - I could see only "Microsoft

XPS Document Writer"

From event log of TS I could see following logs

Event ID 1111 : Driver HP Laserjet8100 Series PCL required for printer

!!172.20.5.10!8100 SRVR is unknown. Contact the administrator to install the

driver before you log in again

Event ID 3: Printer Canon Inkjet i550 (redirected 5) was deleted, and users

will no longer be able to print to this printer. No user action is required.

To stop logging information events for the print spooler, in Control Panel,

open Printers, right-click a blank area of the window, click Run as

Administrator, click Server Properties, click the Advanced tab, and then

clear the Log spooler information events check box.

Any solution would be appreciated

Thanks

Prakash

RE: Can not see local printer from TS

These error messages mean that there is a driver mismatch between the server

and the client. If you can upgrade the clients to Remote Desktop Client 6.1

you can use TS Easy Print, which is an XPS based Universal Printer driver,

meaning you'll be able to print to any client printer without installing the

drivers on the TS. Remote Desktop Client 6.1 is available for XP SP2, SP3 &

Vista SP1.
