Hi Dave, as far as they can remeber, they were just turning the computer on and it came up with a message (which they cant remember exactly) saying that there was a problem and do you want to do a system restore to fix the problems. not knowing any better they pressed yes! It then restored however this was a demo laptop in the shop so be restoring it, the orignal shop logon was back on there, they had to take it back to the shop to get the logon removed. all i have done since then is reinstall the printer and the antivirus.

Hi, and welcome to ExTS

You can try this:

Start > Control Panel > Internet Options > Advanced

Click on the "Reset" button.

This will reset IE to default settings.

Failing that:

Boot up in Safe Mode with Networking

Switch on - constantly tap F8 about once per second - select Safe Mode with Networking from the list of options.

You should have internet access ( with a bit of luck )

If you do download F_Fox if you can

I think you said that you deleted the AV.

Do not do any more on the net.

Install F_Fox and test again.

There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!

Hi again Alimay since the laptop is only a few weeks old , and was demo model i'd suggest a full return to factory settings reset , the software used by the shop to create the logon etc will then be gone , ( this is what the shop should have done before selling it to you ) if you want to go down that route get back to us we will be happy to help .

Hi again Alimay do you know how to run the factory reset ? if you provide us with the make of the laptop we can help , and secondly make sure you run whats sometimes called a "destructive" restore basically a fancy way of saying return to factory default , and not just recovering the operating system , best of luck let us know how you get on.
