Guest Stu Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 I recently had a catastrophic computer failure due to a power surge during a storm. I now have a new motherboard, new processor and new hard drive. I installed XP pro on the new unit and tried to update with Service pack 2 and I keep failing the validation. Is there a site I can download SP2 without going through the validation process? Actually all I really need at this point is a high speed USB driver. Thanks
Guest Ron Badour Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Re: Service pack 2 Do you have a new UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) to protect your new computer equipment against future power surges? Try SP3 as it will have all the updates released prior to it being issued: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/default.aspx You can also get SP2 there. -- Regards Ron Badour MS MVP Windows Desktop Experience "Stu" <stumann1@mindspring.com> wrote in message news:zu0vk.26267$4s1.9593@newsfe06.iad... >I recently had a catastrophic computer failure due to a power surge during >a > storm.
