Guest MargarineFly Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 I have a black screen that comes on when the computer is not used for about 15 mins. But it's not the screen saver. Someone I had worked with told me how to change it before, but I forgot how, and ever since my computer was reformatted or something, it comes back on all the time. It's very annoying when watching movies, Etc. Does anyone know what I am talking about or how to change it?

Control Panel | Display | Screen Saver Tab | Power. What's it the Turn Off Monitor field? -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express Imperial Beach, CA

Guest jd Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Re: Probably an easy question. What does F5 do? - stop the screen saver or power-up the monitor? You can configure those settings in Control Panel->Power Options. Even better, check your media player’s settings for an option to disable screensavers/power options while playing. -- Alec S. news/alec->synetech/cjb/net

Guest Bruce Hagen Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Re: Probably an easy question. If your screen saver power options turn the monitor off, F5, (almost any key, actually), will turn the monitor back on. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express Imperial Beach, CA "jd" <www.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:ujhN0bODJHA.3668@TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... > What does F5 do? - stop the screen saver or power-up the monitor? > > > "Bruce Hagen" <Nospam@mymail.invalid> wrote in message > news:O6UyEVLDJHA.4696@TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl... > "MargarineFly" <MargarineFly@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:6459B974-AB0F-4C32-AD43-A4F34469059C@microsoft.com... >>I have a black screen that comes on when the computer is not used for >>about >> 15 mins.
