XP Transfer files and Settings Wizard Q.

Recommended Posts

Just rebuilt Auntie's XP Home ed. PC and realised that I ran XP's "Transfer

my Files and Settings," whilst her PC was at SP2 + a few, and IE6 !,

and her "new" system box on the bench here is now at SP3, ...is there

likely to be a problem/s when I run "Transfer my Files and Settings wizard"

on new system box ?

....and does a dial-up network connection, and OE settings pop/smtp server

etc. get put back in ?

i.e. pointless doing it manually, if the wizard does it.

(...1st time in over 25 years using that wizard - and "yes" I should have

read up on it ! )

TIA

regards, Richard

Re: XP Transfer files and Settings Wizard Q.

...."yes" I answer to myself, after the wizard complained that the "store"

was created with an "older" version, and left me completely up the creek

without a paddle, - so Goodbye XP ...and we'll have a fresh iinstall from

her XP SP2 ...from ground up and run the wizard before SP3 gets stuffed in

...I suppose !

Fat lot of use that wizard is, i.e. not just a little bit backwards

compatible !!!
