Guest lwapner@roadrunner.com Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Greetings: The install was slow and appeared to virtually halt during "Creating Backup Files". I canceled the installation but had to "alt-ctrl-del" to get out of the process. A real mess! Then did System Restore. I went through this failed process twice. All works well now without succeeding to install SP3. Questions - Typically, how long should a successful installation take? Given that I used "alt-ctrl-del" to abort two failed installations, have I created an excessive number of worthless (backup) files or other problems on my hard drive? If so, is there a safe way to delete them? Thanks!!

If you're installing WinXP SP3 via Automatic Updates or Windows Update, it could take 2 hours or more for the installation to complete, depending on server demand. A2. I wouldn't worry about it.
