David1108 Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Please could someone try to help me to sort out my Belkin G Wireless Modem Router and a Netgear N150 Wireless Router. The computer being used is a Acer Aspire with Windows XP Home with 1GB memory. First when I get hold of the Netgear N150 Wireless Router I set it up correct and I tryed it. It took out the phone line and made a noise like a police car. So I have now get the Belkin G Wireless Modem Router and put that onto the computer and that will not work. I then take the phone wire and put it into the back of the computer and it will not work on the internet. I do get the lan or highspeed internet show up and if I use dail up on the old Sagem from Talk Talk then I can get onto orange. But I like to make the ADSL cable go into the Modem then the wireless router and have it work for me. Thanks David. Quote
KenB Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Hi and welcome to ExTS Belkin G Wireless Modem Router Could you let us know the model number of this please ? I like to make the ADSL cable go into the Modem then the wireless router If you have a wireless modem router you don't need an extra modem. Have you got filters on all equipment that is connected to the phone network ? Are you trying to connect by cable or wireless ? David1108 Posted February 16, 2012 Author Posted February 16, 2012 Hi there ? First I don't know a name to put so that is why I have put the ? in the above "Hi There" To Answer your questions, yes I do have the filter on the main phone line box and there are two wires coming from it, one bring the phone and the other one bring the ADSL. What I should be able to do is take the cable and put it into the modem Router. Put it will not get a message at the computer end. Tp amswer your next question which is the model number for the Belkin Wireless Modem Router, it is F5D7634-4A-H v2. I am trying to connect the cable and I did all that correct, but the computer does not want to see it. I have been though to network connections and I see that the high speed internet or lan is both in blue. The only way at this time to connect to the internet is to dail up 0 on the Sagem modem which I like to bin that. The new modem is not being seen by the computer. Quote
KenB Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 First I don't know a name to put It's Ken Do you have your router set up exactly as the image below? In particular - Connection #2 This may not be connected directly to a wall socket as shown but may be connected to a splitter or extension cable. At this point there should be a filter. David1108 Posted February 17, 2012 Author Posted February 17, 2012 modem for VOIP Hi there, Been doing some web searching to see if I can come up with any information on a better router come modem for VOIP. I use no-ip.org and was reading there web site and see the the Linksys by Cisco BEFSR41EtherFast Cable/DSL router would work. Now if I can also get hold a a modem then I can use my Free Radio Network Server which is a VOIP system. Or if there is a free service like the no-ip.org I can see if I can do a port foward to it. Anyone with any good ideas please send them to me. Thanks David. Quote
