Guest Sandy Wood Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Doing some house cleaning and noticed several old local profiles on my XP system and thought I'd delete them. The Delete button is greyed out in the User Profile GUI for every profile on my system. I ran Process Explorer and noticed that every profile's NTUSER was loaded and wouldn't allow me to close their handles. Can anyone suggest a clean way to rid myself of these old profiles? -- Sandy Wood Orange County District Attorney
Guest R. McCarty Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Re: Cannot delete old local profile from XP domain system If the profiles are loaded is the machine using Fast User Switching ? If so, then you'll want to log off those users. Actually in any business environment I'd consider disabling Fast User Switching. Guest Sandy Wood Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Re: Cannot delete old local profile from XP domain system Yes, my system is a domian member. On another tip, I installed the User Profile Hive Cleanup Service, rebooted and found that all the profiles were now 'Delete-able' - I was able to clean out the old ones. Must have been something bad in my profiles. -- Sandy Wood Orange County District Attorney "R.
