This is what you get unless you actually install the Full Terminal Services which is what "creates" a true Terminal Server. Without that all you really have is a Server that allows Remote Desktop Connections. -- Phillip Windell http://www.wandtv.com The views expressed, are my own and not those of my employer, or Microsoft, or anyone else associated with me, including my cats. -----------------------------------------------------
Guest Meinolf Weber Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Re: TERMINAL SERVER Hello boba, This is no real error. Terminal services in administration mode allows 2 remote concurrent connections and one on the server console. If you like to have more users to connect to the server you have to choose application mode and install a TS licensing server and buy the needed amount of TS CAL's. Guest boba Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 RE: TERMINAL SERVER Thanks for the response. I am trying to install TS (through windows components) and when it asks me the license number if I put the server name ....it should automatically pick up the license number or should I enter. I have the license numbers but I don't know which one was used when server was installed. Does it have to be the same? Also, we have about 50 users so should I pick per device or per user option? I would appreciate any help. Thanks! Guest Meinolf Weber Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 RE: TERMINAL SERVER Hello boba, Which license numbers are you talking about now? TS or the normal windows server license? The terminal server license server needs the CAL's to add so that user/devices can connect. Guest boba Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 RE: TERMINAL SERVER It is TS CAL. Which is better to use per user or per device? Thanks! Guest Meinolf Weber Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 RE: TERMINAL SERVER Hello boba, Depends on your environment: . TS Device CAL: A TS Device CAL permits one device (that is used by any user) to conduct Windows sessions on any of your terminal servers. . TS User CAL: A TS User CAL permits one user (who uses any device) to conduct Windows sessions on any of your terminal servers.
