Re-install Media Player.

Recommended Posts

Daughter's PC, XP/SP2, Media Player won't start, missing DLL.

No internet connection so cannot update to a newer version.

Is there a standalone download for WMP 11 which will install without that

connection or alternatively how can I fix WMP 9, perhaps from XP CD?

Re: Re-install Media Player.

Try running Sfc /Scannow and see if it takes care of the missing dll.

Re: Re-install Media Player.

Thanks for the reply, will try SFC.

Would a "Repair" install of XP also fix WMP?

She can still play music and video via Winamp but wants to see the WMP

visualisations on an attached 37" LCD TV.

As for why she's got no internet connection she uses mine all the time for

free!

Re: Re-install Media Player.

And you have to have XP SP 2 installed on her computer for WMP 11 to install

SFC nor Repair may not fix anything, there are just things to try, no

guarantee of a "fix".

Re: Re-install Media Player.

Thanks but that doesn't work, it looks to validate Windows but can't because

there's no internet connection.
