Hi, ,i have a sony Vaio which runs windows 7 home premium. It is around 9 months old and recently it keeps dropping the internet connection.

I have talk talk connected wirelessly. When i look at the connection it says it is connected and shows the signal strength is fine. It will come back eventually but can be very frustrating. I had started to think if i shut down the connection and started again this seemed to help, but really the internet is available randomly, so it can seem like things help when they dont really.

I tried searching for some solutions and saw someone suggesting pinging to see what is up with the connection.

Just now when the connection dropped i tried this again and this is what i get

The last ping was when the internet connection picked up again. I really cannot figure out what is happening. Does this give any clues?

Thanks for any help with this

Thanks for the reply.

And no i haven't, how do i do this. My router is an Echolife HG 520b. I think it might be to do with the router as my smart tv seems to find it impossible to download programmes too.

Hi,

Echolife HG 520b

This is a cheap router supplied by TalkTalk.

I had a similar one that kept dropping the connection - I replaced the router.

If you have had this router a while I would be tempted to replace it.

You could always contact TalkTalk and ask them if it would be possible to replace it.

The setup info is here:

http://help.talktalk.co.uk/app/answers/detail/a_id/1607/~/wired-connection-setup-for-huawei-echolife-hg520b

The router IP Address is 192.168.1.1

From your ping details - you could not ping the router at all when the connection was down.

============

I suspect you may need to replace the router - but try the following when there is no connection......

ping 127.0.0.1

This will confirm if the TCP/IP is OK.

This should complete even if there is no connection.

============

Another possibility is the wireless adapter - but an intermittent fault is rare.

There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!
