Guest PhilipB Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 2 client machines have suddenly developed this message at logon: "Windows cannot connect to the domain, either because the domain controller is down or otherwise unavailable, or because your computer account was not found." These PCs are running XP Professional SP3, on an SBS2003 domain, and are shown as client computers on the domain controller. These PCs have successfully been on the domain for 11 months. I have tried alternate passwords (which are know to be good passwords as they are in use on a daily basis but still get the same message. I have tried the usual passwords for the affected PCs on other PCs and they work on the alternate machines. I can log on to the local PC and access shared resources on the SBS box - internet explorer / exchange etc. I have 5 unused user CALs showing on the server. Can anyone offer any advice? Thanks
Guest Meinolf Weber Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Re: "Windows cannot connect to the domain" Hello PhilipB, Please post an unedited ipconfig /all from both clients and the server, so we can exclude DNS problems. Did you change anything before the problems occur or restore form a backup? Guest FrankS Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 RE: "Windows cannot connect to the domain" I am having the same issue with a Windows 2003 Server. I have been able to access it for months via Terminal Services and in the past few days, suddendly can not. I get the same error. I can login into the domain from the monitor, but no longer via Remote Desktop. HELP!
