Guest Neil Harrington Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 I THINK this started after updating one of my WinXP computers to SP3, but since it's not one I use online most of the time I can't be sure. I've lost the regular blue-e-in-a-gold-orbit IE icon from my Start menu. Now there's just a generic icon there. Anyone know how I can get the IE icon back? The IE version number is 7.0.5730.13.

If it points to iexplor.exe, there are several different icons built into that exe file you as a user can pick from. I've changed mine to a more vivid or bolder icon for my eyes.

Thanks, but this icon is above the line in the Start menu and right-clicking on it doesn't provide any option for changing it.

Thanks -- it did lead me to an easier solution: I right clicked on the generic icon, clicked on "Remove from This List," then went to All Programs and the Internet Explorer shortcut there, right clicked on that icon (which was the correct one) and clicked on "Pin to Start menu." That fixed it.
