Guest ColTom2 Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Hi: I have a Sony desktop VGC-RA716G with Windows XP MCE2005 SP3 and all updates installed. Have a Sound Max Integrated Digital Audio. I don't know it this is integrated with motherboard or is a separate sound card? Sounds as if it possibly is integrated with MB? I have lost all abilities to play any sound files from either internal or external source. However, I am getting a bleed through on my speakers with sorta cracking or bumping sounds. I have checked all speaker connections etc, but still no sound from sound files. If I recall I think that I heard the noise that I now hear previously to some degree when playing sound files recently. Any help and/or suggestions will greatly be appreciated ColTom2

Open the Sound Mixer and check for Mute states on Wave/Master sliders Make sure the Master slider is at or above 60% & Wave similar value Turn down any input sources that are not used ( Input Monitor, Mic...) Test known good working speakers on your PC to either rule out or confirm the audio driver(s)/software as the source of the issue. Check the Sony support site for any updates that may pertain to the issue. http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=VGCRA716G&LOC=3 If the integrated audio is presented as the source of the issue try uninstalling/reinstalling the driver(s)/software or disable the integrated audio and install a Sound card. Recently I worked on a machine that used SoundMax and had issues similar to yours. The speakers worked on another machine and none worked on the problem machine, installing a sound card regained audio for the user. -- Brian A. Guest ColTom2 Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Re: Sound Problems Thanks for all your timely postings. After running everything about 2-3 times I finally found it was a cable connection. I have a spare cloned HD and even replaced current HD with it to, only find out eventually the cable connection.
