mickhail Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 (edited) Hi, A month ago my PC stopped working, I was unable to turn it on at the base. I took it to a PC repair shop who said that the motherboard would need replacing, when I got the PC back home after the new motherboard had been installed, I was unable to connect to the internet through windows. So I took it back to the repair shop, a couple of days later they told me that they couldn't connect to the internet using windows but could connect using Linux, I think it's called?...Anyway, they told me that the only solution that they could give me would be to reset the PC back to it's factory settings. I agreed to this hoping to get my PC like it was on day one when I bought it. The PC was fine for a couple of weeks, internet connection was fine and I was back playing Football Manager 2012, until last week, when while I was playing the game, it just freezed up. I was able to get onto task manager and end the game, thinking I would be able to just reload the game but that didn't happened. Everytime I try to load the game I keep getting this error message I have tried other game through STEAM ( which is what Football Manager is played on ). I have even tried Championship Manager 01/02! Which manages to load up to the game menu, but when I click on start new game, I get the message: There is not enough available system memory to create the game. Please free up some more and try again. Which I don't understand if the PC has been reset to it's factory settings!?. Here is a DXDIAG of my system, please help! ------------------ System Information ------------------ Time of this report: 2/19/2012, 20:37:34 Machine name: MICHAEL-PC Operating System: Windows Vista™ Home Premium (6.0, Build 6002) Service Pack 2 (6002.vistasp2_gdr.111025-0338) Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: To Be Filled By O.E.M. KenB Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Hi, Here are the system requirements for the game: PC System Requirements OS: Windows XP/Vista/W7 Processor: XP - 1.4GHz or Faster, Vista/W7 - 2.0GHz or Faster. Intel Pentium 4, Intel Core, AMD Athlon. Memory: XP - 512MB RAM, Vista/W7 - 1.0GB RAM Graphics: 128MB Supported Chipsets - Nvidia FX 5900 Ultra or greater; ATI Radeon 9800 or greater; Intel 82915G/82910GL or greater. Earlier cards may only display 2D Match Viewer Mode and are not supported. Earlier cards may require the DirectX 9.0 SDK is installed to run the game. This can be downloaded from the following url: DirectX Software Development Kit Laptop versions of these chipsets may work but are not supported. DirectX®: 9.0c Hard Drive: 2GB Sound: DirectX 9.0c compatible LAN: TCP/IP compliant Your system seems to be OK or better. Championship Manager 01/02 The system specs for this are even less - 64MB RAM There is not enough available system memory The error massage refers to RAM ( Random Access Memory ) not the disk space available on the hard drive. However, you have 2GB reported and only 512MB is needed for a system running XP. It could also refer to Page File ( Virtual Memory ) which is directly linked. Your Page File looks fine too. I suggest having Windows manage this and not have it specified. click here If this doesn't fix it ......... while I was playing the game, it just freezed up It sounds as if something has malfunctioned at this point. Start > Run ....type in ....devmgmt.msc .......ENTER Click the + next to the devices listed. Are there any yellow exclamation marks or red Xs ? mickhail Posted February 20, 2012 Author Posted February 20, 2012 Hi Ken, Thank's for your reply. I have checked each + sign on each device and there are no yellow exclamation marks or red X's. Could this have anything to do with the new motherboard that was installed? Thanks Michael Quote
KenB Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 If everything else is OK then I doubt it. Check my link in the previous post and let Windows manage your paging file. mickhail Posted February 20, 2012 Author Posted February 20, 2012 OK, I will give it a go and let you know how I get on. Thanks for the help. Quote
mickhail Posted February 20, 2012 Author Posted February 20, 2012 It's telling me me to insert an initial size and a maximum size. At the bottom of this, it says - Total paging file sizes for all drives. Minimum allowed - 16MB Recommended - 3055MB Currently Allocate 2337MB. What would you recommend the Initial and Maximum size to be? Quote
KenB Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 What would you recommend the Initial and Maximum size to be? This is a manual setting. You are best advised to let Windows manage the paging file. mickhail Posted February 20, 2012 Author Posted February 20, 2012 Thanks for the help, the Championship Manager game is now working. Do you know of any solution to get the Football Manger 2012 working? Quote
KenB Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 One problem solved :) Do you know of any solution to get the Football Manger 2012 working? Your system specs seem to be better than the minimum requirements. I did note that you are running SP2. XP has SP3 available. I doubt that this will solve your problem with FM2012 - but you should really consider updating to SP3. Start > Run ...type in ....winver .....ENTER This will confirm which you have. mickhail Posted February 21, 2012 Author Posted February 21, 2012 Hi Ken, It's Windows Vista I have, not XP. I have the disc that I got with the motherboard, would it be any harm if I re-installed the drivers that are on the disc? The drivers are - INF Driver Onboard VGA Driver HD Audio Driver and application LAN Driver Quote
KenB Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Hi, Start ....type in ......devmgmt.msc .....ENTER ================= INF Driver - This is the Setup Information File. It is used by Windows to install Device Drivers Onboard VGA Driver - this will be under Display Adapters HD Audio Driver and application - this will be under Sound Video Game Controllers LAN Driver - This will be under Network Adapters If you click the + next to each you will see the device driver that is installed. If there are no yellow exclamation marks or red Xs then you can assume that the drivers are OK. With the exception of possibly the VGA Driver - I don't think the others would stop you playing the game. ==================== Do you get an error message when trying to run FM2012 ? spantonpctech Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 For some reason I don't feel very reassured of the repair place that you sent your PC too. They said that you needed a new motherboard, which is fine if they say that and it is not booting up but then when they put a new one in the internet does not work so they ask that you do a restore of factory settings? Now i could be wrong but does that mean that they changed the motherboard but then continued to use the currently installed Windows to test it?. I would have thought that a fresh install of Windows would have been needed as it is a massive change in hardware. It looks to me like they then used a Linux live cd (I bet Ubuntu)to boot up your computer to check the board and of course the internet works, as it is acting like a fresh operating system install. I know that i am new to this board and i dont know if you would want to try this but my advice would be to do a total reinstall of windows and start from a fresh and clean Windows. I am sure you can save any save games for your FM2012 and others to transfer over when the installation in complete. Quote
Merlynson Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 Reading the DxDiag I get the impression that your system might be using onboard graphics which is only 286MB. I would check that your setup has the onboard vga turned off. Quote
mickhail Posted March 15, 2012 Author Posted March 15, 2012 Hi guys, Thanks for your replies. I have tried uninstalling Football Manager 2012 and Steam from my PC and then reinstalling them, but I still get the same error message when I try to play FM12. I am at work just now, but will look into what Merlynson has mentioned regarding the onbaord vga later tonight. If the same situation occurs, then I will look into what spanton has said about a total reinstall of Windows, not sure how to go about that exactly, but will look into it. Thanks Mick Quote
KenB Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 total reinstall of Windows, This should be a very last resort. Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! MiniToolBoxNetwork TestWireless Test
mickhail Posted March 20, 2012 Author Posted March 20, 2012 It appears that my computer can't find the component d3d9.dll and from what it appears, is that this is needed to play multimedia applications, like games and youtube videos, which I also can't view. I have tried to download adobe flash player but get the message that the computer is unable to locate the component d3d9.dll Quote

mickhail Posted March 21, 2012 Author Posted March 21, 2012 I've tried numerous different things tonight, but I'm still unable to play my Football Manager 2012 game, install flash player, because it can't locate component d3d9.dll. My football manager game should work with the graphics card I have, although I'm considering buy a new graphics card or even just buying a new desktop system. What would you guys recommend? Quote
RandyL Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 You have a directx problem. A new graphics card won't solve that. I have a few questions. 1. What is the make. model and number of the PC? It's not listed in your dxdiag report. 2. Did they replace the old mobo with the exact same kind? 3. Who did the factory reset and how did they or you do it? 4. Do you have recovery disks? 5. Do you have a full Windows Vista disk? 6. Was Vista the original OS? Quote We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else.
