Guest Alec S. Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 Re: start safe mode or reinstall without using monitor As soon as the system restarts, start hitting F8 for a while. It’s hard to tell when the Advanced Options prompt is finally up, but keep an eye on the hard drive light. Safe Mode should be selected so you should be able to just press Enter to start booting into Safe Mode. If the previous shutdown was fine, it may have Start Windows Normally selected by default instead of Safe Mode in which case you would press down 3 times (but it’s hard to tell which is the case). You can see snaps of the Advanced Options dialog at Google Images: http://images.google.com/images?safe=off&q=safe+mode -- Alec S. news/alec->synetech/cjb/net "alvin13" <alvin13@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:A262BC7C-D0CE-4217-AA70-A31253484101@microsoft.com... > Please help i eas having problems with my xp home service pack2 and i > restarted and pressed delete as advised in hekp and support and i changed my > settings to hdi but i dont have a HD monitor can anyone tell me using the > keys only as i cant see the monittor as it says no signal MY FAULT but i need > to know exactly what to press after restarting and holding delete example > down 3 enter accross 2 enter also if i need to press any of the keys f1 to > f12 to either run an install from my windows xp disc or to change my settings > not to allow hdi as my monitor aint hdi please hhelp someone
Guest Mick Murphy Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 RE: start safe mode or reinstall without using monitor If you are seeing "no signal" on your monitor, it is time to contact a computer technician. All you can do is turn the power off at the wall, and make sure the cable from the monitor to the Computer is screwed in properly at both ends. -- Mick Murphy - Qld (Sunshine State) - Australia "alvin13" wrote: > Please help i eas having problems with my xp home service pack2 and i > restarted and pressed delete as advised in hekp and support and i changed my > settings to hdi but i dont have a HD monitor can anyone tell me using the > keys only as i cant see the monittor as it says no signal MY FAULT but i need > to know exactly what to press after restarting and holding delete example > down 3 enter accross 2 enter also if i need to press any of the keys f1 to > f12 to either run an install from my windows xp disc or to change my settings > not to allow hdi as my monitor aint hdi please hhelp someone
