Guest ggalv Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 I really need some help with this. My AVG Antivirus found this "Trojan Horse Dropper.Agent.JOC." It was located in C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Engine\6\Intel 32 Is there away to find out information about this? If it is a virus? I have done some research on the internet and have read several articles. I am not for certain if its a "false positive" and restore it OR if I should delete it from the Vault? Really Appreciate your help.
Guest Chuck Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 Re: Virus? Trojan Horse Dropper.Agent.JOC The first thing to do is assume it is malware. Next try and determine where it came from. Finally, for the moment, it should be OK to leave it in the Vault. You are a ways away from needing to do a "restore". (Assuming you do not have any other symptoms.) Also, take a look at: http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=147876 "ggalv" <ggalv@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:E863C17C-E660-4B91-AA39-C933B08E0457@microsoft.com... >I really need some help with this. > > My AVG Antivirus found this "Trojan Horse Dropper.Agent.JOC." Guest ggalv Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 Re: Virus? Trojan Horse Dropper.Agent.JOC The Trojan Horse Dropper.Agent.JOC is a little different from the one in the majorgeeks article. Appreciate your help. Guest ggalv Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 Re: Virus? Trojan Horse Dropper.Agent.JOC The thing is that I am not actually sure if this is indeed a virus. I am trying to see if its a "false" positive. Do whatever's necessary to get rid of it. If it is, indeed, a 'false positive,' you can reinstall it from its legitimate sponsors.
Guest ggalv Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 Re: Virus? Trojan Horse Dropper.Agent.JOC Actually, I just finished reading some more articles and the conclusion was that it was a "false positive". I restored the file to its original location. Ran AVG with the latest updates and it no longer detects it as a virus.
