OK so I seem to have a virus. Whenever I run any anti virus scan (or malwarebytes) it freezes at a random point through and freezes my PC. I have used Avast, AVG, Trend Micro and Malwarebytes. The quick scans run fine. Full scan causes freezing. I have also run SFC and nothing is wrong.

The PC also freezes if I am using windows explorer.

I have run Avast and AVG in Safe Mode to no luck, nothing found.

Nothing shows in Windows Logs either. The logs just stop being created until I restart.

I am not sure what to do next. I preferably don't want to have to format and reinstall Windows, but I feel as though it may come to that. I also don't want to roll back - only because I'm not exactly sure as to when it happened, so I could be rolling back quite a while!

Any ideas?

Hi and welcome to ExTS

I have used Avast, AVG, .....

If you have more than one AV on your system they will conflict.

Do you have more than one?

Have you tried running MBAM in safe mode ?

There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!

It is not recommend that you have more than one anti virus product installed and running on your computer at a time. The reason for this is that if both products have their automatic (Real-Time) protection switched on, then those products which do not encrypt the virus strings within them can cause other anti virus products to cause "false alarms". It can also lead to a clash as both products fight for access to files which are opened again this is the resident/automatic protection. In general terms, the two programs may conflict and cause:

1) False Alarms: When the anti virus software tells you that your PC has a virus when it actually doesn't.

2) System Performance Problems: Your system may lock up due to both products attempting to access the same file at the same time.

Sound familiar?
