kenno1111 Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 HI, I'm on a wireless network at home which works for the other laptop and pc here but not mine. we've recently switched networks and my one worked up until this point...the others connected automatically. Ive tried the security key, its not that, it says the connection is excellent strength but wont connect to IE, Chrome or Firefox. Also changed the TCP/IP4 settings to the recomended 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4 settings and nothing. Unselected TCP/ip6 and nothing. ITs running on Vista and is a dell vostro if it helps? Start > type in .....cmd .....in the top left of screen right click on "cmd.exe" > Run as Administrator type in .....ping 192.168.0.1 .........( space after ping) Can you ping the router ? You should get 4 packets sent and received - none lost. If you can type in .... ping 209.85.147.94 Can you ping Google. KenB Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Hi, You can ping locally but cannot communicate with the Router and because of this there is no internet connection. I have just turned my wireless adapter off and have been able to simulate your ping results exactly. Check that the wireless adapter is switched on - there should be a small switch on the front or back of your keyboard. Failing this - there is a problem with your Wireless Adapter. kenno1111 Posted March 1, 2012 Author Posted March 1, 2012 the adaptors definitely on, tried resetting it, and the device manager says its working but still says it cant communicate with primary dns server (89.101.160.5). would re-installing the drivers help? Quote

Suggest that you uninstall the drivers from Device Manager > Reboot > Windows will find new hardware and install the drivers again.
