LeeH Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Ok, I was fed up with our iphones locking up with our D Link TalkTalk supplied router. Its a common problem, its all over the talktalk forum. So, I selected a nice shiny new one with a 'quick' google and found some strong reviews about really good signal strength etc.... BUT, it has no modem inside:doh: Can I buy a modem like this http://www.cqout.com/item.asp?id=10480810 with no detrimantal effect to my connection whatsoever? Or do I bay it off and give myself a slap? KenB Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Hi and welcome to ExTS I can't understand why router manufacturers do this. The vast majority of people who buy a router want it dual-purpose. Network computers and connect to the internet. You should be OK with that modem. The connection should look like this: http://kbserver.netgear.com/images/n101667_image01.gif Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! LeeH Posted February 27, 2012 Author Posted February 27, 2012 Thanks Ken, Will it be a reliable connection with no speed isues? I need a solid connection as I get a steady 14meg connection with 20ms ping and 0 jitter. Shall I just bay it off and buy the one with the modem in? Thanks again. Lee Quote
KenB Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 What about contacting the seller - explain your problem - ask if you can return it and buy a router with modem from them ?
