Guest KahmSahmNeeDah Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 In Win XP I can not delete an empty direction. I have taken off Read only attributes as well. Won't work in cmd.exe either. Any ideas ? Thanks.

I've used it to remove files and folders that other utilities could not. You can locate the program here at the author's web page: http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/ After searching to find what file or program might be keeping control over the folder it usually offers you the option to delete it anyway, even if it could not detect what was trying to remain in control of it.

Instructions: 1. Create a text file and write in it a couple of letters. 2. Save that file in your root drive (C: for example) with the same exact name and extension as the file you want to delete. 3. Now make a backup your new file (I used Acronis True Image). 4. Open your backup program and restore the file you created to the folder where the undeletable file is, overwriting it. 4. Now you can delete it! 5. Run chkdsk ju.c "KahmSahmNeeDah" <andy77017@yahoo.com> wrote in message news:2af36164-5954-4753-911a-2342aae2daf1@s50g2000hsb.googlegroups.com... > In Win XP > > I can not delete an empty direction. I am now busy dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Ike. My residence came out undamaged for which I am very thankful to God for. My mom, who is 80 didn't fare so well. She is still without power. :-( Andy
