llanfallteg16 Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 Hi All, After much searching I found that it was possible to replace the fan in a Dell Dimension 2400 with one from Startech. Same size and spec, I thought. Data from Dell. The fan required is a 9.25cm 3 lead case fan. (FAN9X25TX3L) This has arrived and it has an TX3 connector attached! Looked in the Dell and removed the connector and it is a Molex 50-57-9403 connector. Has anyone else had this problem and can I purchase an adaptor to convert the fan from TX3 to Dell -Molex. Always another problem! J Quote

KenB Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Hi, Is the Molex connector a 3 or 4 wire version ? Is it not possible to simply cut off the TX3 and the Molex and solder the Molex connection to the remaining wires? (assuming the number of wires is 3 in each case) Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! llanfallteg16 Posted March 3, 2012 Author Posted March 3, 2012 Replacement StarTech Fan Hi All, Sorry for the late reply, I had log-in problems again. I log-in then when I access the Forum I'm logged out! Anyway, thanks for your help I did cut off the TX3 plug and the Molex three wire connector. The Dell wiring is slightly different, the control being a white wire instead of a yellow one, to be expected I suppose. Joined up the wires and back in business again. All sorted and thread closed.
