If you have lost your XP product Key, the best option is to call Microsoft. Call on Microsoft Licensing Fulfillment Center Toll Free Number (800) 248-0655 Monday through Friday, 6:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. Pacific time. Contact Microsoft page - http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?pr=csscontactfind If XP is running AND your friend does NOT have an OEM machine (Dell, Sony, HP, etc.) then one of these free system inventory tools will show her the Product Key: http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder.shtml - Key Finder http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/product_cd_key_viewer.html - Nirsoft Key Finder The Product Key that these applications will show on an OEM machine is the OEM's volume license key and not the correct one for end user reinstallation. I assume that she doesn't have an OEM machine or she would have the COA sticker on the machine with the Product Key, but I include the above information to be thorough.
