Guest Barry Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 Dear All I think IE7 was installed prior to SP3 and we have AVG Anti Virus running, Spybot and Windows firewall. I am reluctant to turn these off unless absolutely necessary as we are not sure what is causing this security patch to install. Thank you Barry

Guest PA Bear [MS MVP] Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 Re: re-update problem CrystalBall© tells me that you've got an WinXP SP3 Beta or Release Candidate installed, you've got a bad install of WinXP SP3 final, or you recently (e.g., sometime after 08 Aug-08) reinstalled WinXP. KB953838 was released on 08 Aug-08. -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Desktop Experience - since 2002 AumHa VSOP & Admin http://aumha.net DTS-L http://dts-l.net/ Barry wrote: > Mick Murphy wrote: >> What is the exact problem? > hi windows downloads an update and it fails to install. it says the IE > is the wrong version. Guest Barry Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 Re: re-update problem So, do you suggest un-installing the SP3 ? Is this possible?
