KenB Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 The netbook connects to Internet on the both floor If you have a laptop that is connecting to the internet on both floors ( wirelessly ) then the problem does not lie with the router. This is a last resort: Download WinSock Fix from here: ( make a note of the download location ) http://www.snapfiles.com/php/sfdwnld.php?id=107303&a=7120710&loc=2 You will need to put it on a memory stick and transfer it to your desktop. Run the fix and try the connection again. Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! MiniToolBoxNetwork TestWireless Test
igrek001 Posted March 17, 2012 Author Posted March 17, 2012 no, unfortunately it doesn't help.... now after I unchecked 'Use Windows for configuration' in Properties, the monitor icon became without the red cross and it shows Status as 'connected', but browsers still not connected to Internet... Plastic Nev Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 Hi, I don't know if this has been looked at in Internet Explorer or other browsers, but Internet Explorer will refuse to connect if it is set to work off line. Click on tools, and have a look at "Work off line" it should not have a tick, it should have a red cross inside a circular icon. Nev. Quote Need help with your computer problems? igrek001 Posted March 17, 2012 Author Posted March 17, 2012 thank you, but the 'Work off line' unchecked, but there is not any red cross inside circular icon. I wander why there is not connection, when the Internet Connection icon (the blue icon) is on, and status shows as 'Connected' with very good signal... :-( Quote
Jelly Bean Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 Ok I am going to jump in here if you dont mind..... Are you using Internet Explorer to connect to the internet? If yes download FireFox on another computer and save the file. Get a CD/DVD writeable disk or a floppy or a USB pen drive and put FF download onto it and transfer to the computer.Install it. Open FireFox now can you connect to the internet? For Internet Explorer: 1.Close any Explorer or Windows Explorer windows that are currently open. 2.Open Internet Explorer by clicking the Start button, and then clicking Internet Explorer. 3.Click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options. 4.Click the Connections tab, and then click Lan Settings. 5.Make sure there is only a tick in Automatically detect settings only. 6.Close Internet Explorer, then try opening again. If that doesn't work, try this : 1.Close any Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer windows that are currently open. 2.Open Internet Explorer by clicking the Start button, and then clicking Internet Explorer. 3.Click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options. 4.Click the Advanced tab, and then click Reset. 5.Select the Delete personal settings check box if you would like to remove browsing history, search providers, Accelerators, home pages, and InPrivate Filtering data. 6.In the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialogue box, click Reset. 7.When Internet Explorer finishes applying default settings, click Close, and then click OK. 8.Close Internet Explorer. Your changes will take effect the next time you open Internet Explorer. Have you run the setup wizard for this connection? Have you run the connection wizard? Have you turned off your AntiVirus software and Firewall and then try to connect? Do you see the computer on the network of the main computer the router is connected to? Have you allowed the new Belkin adaptor to connect to the network via the main computer? Have you installed the new Belkin adaptor and put in the routers security key etc? When you hover over the little icon on the task bar what pops up? Does it say Access Local and Internet or just local? Start|run|type cmd type ping www.google.com Please post results. Also a possiblity: http://helpdeskgeek.com/networking/can-connect-to-wireless-router-but-not-to-the-internet/ Have you simply turned off the wireless router by the mains socket. Turn off all computer/laptops/netbooks. Turn on wireless router then turn on the netbook, now can you get a connection? Is it possible the computer has a virus? igrek001 Posted March 19, 2012 Author Posted March 19, 2012 Most of your recomendation I tried already.... after I typed 'www.google.com', the message said the command is not recognized... the Belkin аdapter works perfectly for two years, and now shows as normally worked... Quote
Jelly Bean Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 You were supposed to write "Ping" before the Google.com. In an earlier post you said you had bought a NEW Belkin adaptor,we have now been working on the assumtion that were using a NEW adaptor NOT the old one... Lets check this OLD adaptor, plug it into another computer or laptop. Install the software that comes with it. Does it work on another computer? If it dont work then the adaptor is broken. Or have you even tried the OLD adaptor in a diffrent USB port? Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
igrek001 Posted March 21, 2012 Author Posted March 21, 2012 the Wireless adaptor works ok.... now after attempting to connecto to Internet, I got the status 'Acquiring Network address', which I've got from very beginning.... Quote
KenB Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 the Wireless adaptor works ok Confirmed earlier by the results of ping 127.0.0.1 Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss), Do you know if Mac Address Filtering has been enabled in the Router Software ? Your Network Adapter cannot communicate with the Router and this could be a cause. igrek001 Posted March 22, 2012 Author Posted March 22, 2012 how I can check if Mac Address Filtering has been enabled in the router?? Quote
KenB Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 Look at the attachment below - Are LEDs #2 #4 and #5 lit and Green ? ====================================== Click on the icon to access the internet. In the address bar where http:// www. ------ is normally found delete everything there and type in 192.168.2.1 This should take you to the router software. If you have not set a password try leaving this blank. You should see "Firewall" if you have a look around and if you click on this "Mac Address Filtering" should be there. This needs to be "disabled". If you change a setting click OK to apply. Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! igrek001 Posted March 29, 2012 Author Posted March 29, 2012 right now I check my Wireless Belkin adapter on another desktop PC, located near router, and it works perfect. So, the problem in computor... i think that for some reason disappeared the TCP/IP protocol and need to be recovered or change to new one.... could you explain how I can do that?... Quote
KenB Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 I check my Wireless Belkin adapter on another desktop PC, located near router, I asked earlier if you could test the problem machine near the router and you said "no". It could be as simple as the router wireless signal not reaching the wireless adapter in the pc due to a weak signal.
