How to modify mouse sensitivity to exit screensaver?

My screensaver is being deactivated by too sensitive a mouse movement. How

do I decrease the sensitivity setting?

I seem to remember being able to do this before, but it may have been on a

different Windows platform.

There's a "Mouse" applet in the Control Panel which allows you to

tweak many mouse settings.

Yes, I know that, but it does not provide a function that solves the

problem. I'm not trying to decrease the actual mouse sensetivity, just the

amount of movement that the screensaver responds to.

Actually you cant unless the screen saver itself is designed that way. Go

into your screen saver settings of the screen saver you have chosen and if

there aren't any properties to change the setting there then this can not be

done. My current screen saver allows me to turn off the option of mouse

movement. Also allows me to adjust the mouse sensitivity.

On my old Win Me, I seem to remember being able to adjust this aspect for

every native screen saver there was.

So the screen savers that were shipped with XP were stripped of this

function?

Lay the mouse on its back.

That won't work either. lol I have a lazer mouse that sits on a sliding

tray and gets pushed under my desk when not in use. If someone bumps the

desk, the lazer will reflect off of the underside of the desk that is just

an inch or so above it.

Besides, part of the expectation of a screen saver is to function

automatically when you are away from you computer for an unexpected amount

of time. And, if you didn't know that you were going to be away from your

computer, then you wouldn't have known to flip that mouse over!

Suppose you could disable the mouse as a wake up event.

I like being able to use the mouse to disable the screen saver, but since

the native screen savers in XP suck, then I guess that's my only choice.

Oh well, I tried that and it didn't work.
