Guest Virgilijus Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 I just upgraded to xp from 2000 and now when I boot up, the floppy drive is accessed after xp has finished booting up. Any ideas as to what could be causing this??

Guest Virgilijus Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 Re: floppy drives accessed on boot up Right after the boot, it is like some application is trying to read from drive A: "Peter Foldes" wrote: > accessed in which way > > -- > Peter > > Please Reply to Newsgroup for the benefit of others > Requests for assistance by email can not and will not be acknowledged. > > "Virgilijus" <Virgilijus@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:4A630ECA-E384-4364-A583-C42E4F732B6C@microsoft.com... > >I just upgraded to xp from 2000 and now when I boot up, the floppy drive is > > accessed after xp has finished booting up. XP knows that long before it boots to the user environment. Ntdetect.com gathers that information at the very early booting stage and then passes the information to ntldr which in turn passes it to Ntoskrnl.exe, all of this happens very early on when Windows is just starting to boot.
