I am not sure which caused the problem - there were about 6 or 7 updates. MS suggests maybe I need a new driver for the sound card. I have Realtek AC97 sound card. If getting an updated driver for my sound card would solve it for $12 - i would do it - I just don't want to be ripped off for $12 only to find zero improvement. MS says go to sound & devices and adjust speaker performance hardware accelerator to a slower setting. I do that but the minute I play an MP3 file, I'm back to chipmunk audio, and the accelerator has reset to ultimate fast. WMA files play okay - only MP 3 files are bad.

> Hi PA Bear, thanks a zillion for the websites and info - I'll try a phone call tomorrow afternoon - maybe they can "talk me through a fix". I know I'm a whinner about the keyboard, but the extreme super-sensitive keys and my high speed hunt and peck just are not compatible. If I just touch the adjacent key, it registers plus I have two keys repeat about 60% of the time making an "ee" or "ss". The commonly leaves me sendng the word "ass" unless I hit control "F" to find all incidences. I never had that problem with my old HP key board - I'd buy a new MS board (although this one is only 1-1/2 years old) if $40 would get me a better keyboard. It felt good when I tried the sample board at Staples - but at home - yuck. Anyhow thanks for the help - I'll let you (and anyone reading this) what the solution is. And I know that my hunt/peck typing stinks. regards, Lee
