Guest Don Jones Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 I am receiving the Message: Windows: Low on Registry Space. The system has reached the maximum sized allowed for the system part of the registry. Additional Storage requests will be ignored. Started to receive this message after restoring some files. OS: Windows Server 2003 w/SP2 and latest hotfixes Have 3 GB of memory, and page file size of 6 GB. System will not come up for users to access the server. Any ideas? Thanks Don Jones
Guest Darrell Gorter[MSFT] Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 RE: Low on Registry Space Hello Don, There are acouple of possible causes for this. 1) Check if we have a value called RegistrySizeLimit created under the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control. This isn't created by default 2) there is an application\driver that is writing values to the registry until the maximum size is reached. There are limits to how large the registry hives can get. See this article 302594 The System hive memory limitation is improved in Windows Server 2003 http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;302594 What is the size of the \windows\system32\config\system file?
