Hi all , this one is puzzling me somewhat.I am running windows 7 ultimate, I have 2 500gb drives. The main drive has the os on and the secondary drive has all my photo's vids music etc. the problem is I had partitioned the secondary drive so I could install a back-up copy of Windows 7 on this for emergencies and had Easy BCD boot into both drives as and when I chose to.So far so good.....

I then had to remove the back-up due to various problems, so I re-formatted the partition and re-sized the drive back up to full size. Now when I boot up the PC tries to boot into the partition which has NO os on it?. I can only boot to my main drive if I disconnect the secondary drive. I cant get the PC to fire up the main os when both are installed.....I have tried to tweak the BIOS and Boot order to only recognise the main drive, but still it tries to boot into the secondary? ...any Ideas would be helpful ...cheers all Pete

Hi, just to be sure I (and anyone else) understand this, your second drive now has no partition and therefore no operating system on it? All it contains is files, photo's video, etc?

I think perhaps the BIOS is still looking for that now no longer existing O/S, so perhaps the best way would be to reset the BIOS back to default settings, to do this means removing the battery for about five minutes being the best way to be sure.

Shut down the computer and turn off the power, push in the start button to make sure all is discharged, then remove the cover.

You are looking for a watch type battery about 2p size diameter. Carefully undo the clip or clips holding it in place and remove it. Wait about five minutes and then replace it, making sure it goes back the same way round. That will reset the BIOS back to its original default settings and hopefully allow you to boot from the operating system on the first hard drive.

I agree with Nev, go into your bios and change your first boot hard drive to the one that has the active OS on it, do not confuse this with first second third etc boot options.
