Hi,

I've had my Dell Inspiron M5030 for about a year now, and maybe this is just my laptop's way of telling me it's on it's way out, and it's always been really quick and reliable and I've had no major issues with it.

But recently it's been freezing a lot. It tends to freeze when I'm doing a few things at once, so for example if I'm surfing the net and listening to music it likes to freeze for about 3/4 minutes and then it makes reboot noises and suddenly comes back to life as if nothing's happened.

I've ran countless virus scans with AVG, Malwarebytes, McAfee, and I'm virus free. I've done disk clean-up's and I regularly defrag, I have no malicious software or spyware or anything of that sort yet it keeps freezing on me.

I'm at the end of my tether, it's driving me crazy! Plus, I'm 18 years old so my laptop is practically my life and I can't really afford for it to die on me, so any suggestions?

Thanks!

Hi and welcome to ExTS

AVG, Malwarebytes, McAfee,

If you have AVG and McAfee on your system this could be causing the behaviour you describe.

If you do have 2 AVs - take McAfee off and see if this makes a difference.

Also, it may now after a years use be full of dust which will be clogging the air flow, therefore overheating.

Try blowing some compressed air in through the vents. You can get cans of compressed air from most computer parts retailers.

If you do get some, do it in short bursts, as long prolonged bursts can send liquid out which you don't want inside a laptop.
