Guest Ed Mc Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 I have a Fat32 disk I want to place into a USB enclosure and clone my XP disk. Can I format the enclosed disk to ntfs using disk management? I've researched a little but I want to be very sure, hence, I'm asking here. TIA. -- Semper Fi

Yes, but you don't need to if you're going to clone the drive. Whatever file system the clone master uses is what you'll get on the cloned drive after the process is complete. I use Acronis True Image for this sort of work and it has no problem dealing with drives in USB enclosures. Malke -- MS-MVP Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!
