internet options change on log off.

Unable to access internet. Options have been chnaged to never dial a

connection. Changed to always dial default and OK at time. When log off and

start again it goes back to to never dial again. Happens every time I go on.

Also affects all 3 users on the laptop. can sort but only for that session.

Doesn't appear to hold changed settings?

One or more options/settings in an ever-growing number of third-party

applications may be disallowing the change(s) from "sticking". These include

but are not limited to Ad-aware Pro Ad-Watch, Spybot Tea Timer,

SpywareBlaster, SpySweeper, Spyware Doctor, CounterSpy, AVG Anti-Spyware,

Norton AntiVirus, McAfee VirusScan and/or Antispyware, NOD32, and Zone Alarm

(Free, Pro, & Security Suite).

What anti-virus application is installed?

Unexplained computer behavior may be caused by deceptive software

Run a /thorough/ check for hijackware, including posting your hijackthis log

to an appropriate forum.

When all else fails, HijackThis v2.0.2

(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.exe) is the preferred tool to use (in

conjuction with some other utilities). HijackThis will NOT fix anything on

its own, but it will help you to both identify and remove any

hijackware/spyware with assistance from an expert. **Post your log to

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this

isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and

independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA or Geek Squad) computer repair shop.

Re: internet options change on log off.

I have Bullguard security suite installed. Did a full virus check and it

found some problems which it was able to fix apparently. Since then of the 3

users who have access to the laptop - 1 is able to open explorer and connect

to the internet with no problems. The other 2 are sometimes able to connect

OK but mostly they can't and, on checking, the internet connection tab shows

"never dial a connection". I have hada look at your postings and gone onto

the microsoft security site. I will try downloading the malware removal tool

and see what that does - otherwise I will take it into a dealer as I am not

very confident with this. Thanks for your help though - I appreciate it.
