Drive accessing problem

Windows XP Pro with SP2.

After replacing AVG with Avira I cannot open my drives directly.

When I click the drives a window opens with the message - "choose the

program you want to use to open this file"

I have to go to windows explorer to open the drives.

Your advice will be of great help to me.

Thanks.

Open the drives (I am assuming these are hard drives) and look for an

autorun.inf file. If you find it, delete it. If you don't see autorun.inf,

do a thorough scan for malware.

I have run both Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and SUPER Antispyware.

No Malware found.

As I wrote earlier problem started after replacing AVG with Avira.

Should I format and reinstall.

Regards.

Thanks.

Did you find an autorun.inf file? Are these hard drives you're talking

about? I don't know what you mean by "wrote earlier problem started.."

since I have no idea to what earlier problem you're referring.

I don't have enough information to say whether you should reinstall Windows

or not.
