Another difficulty is that whenever i am able to access a site, the text, or some of the text, on that site is corrupted and unreadable.

Tom I am having the same issue,are you using IE9?

No, i'm in google chrome, but i did try to switch to IE9, but the attempt caused even more pandemonium. Now it's refusing me access to sites, or when i access say, youtube, it wont allow me to use the facility.

Sorry for the long delay, but anyhow, the solution to the above was to have the hard drive replaced, and for the last six months it's worked fine. Now its occasionally freezing the screen and the only option is to go to start and log out and begin again.
