Guest elvista-xp Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 I keep getting a security for power point update notice. I updated it the first time it asked. now every 30 min. it wants to update again. how can I stop this from updating when it already was updated. I turned off auto update for a while then turned it back on only to want to update the same update again. it shows the update already installed at the update site. using windows xp home toshiba laptop

You may have a bad file. If it installs correctly AND you still get the update notice, manually go to the update site and click 'Do not show this update again'. Guest AJR Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 Re: same update over and over Select the option to download updates but not to install automatically - to notify you. Click on update pop-up on the task bar - select "Custom" install - the updates will be listed - clear check on applicable item - close "box" and select option not to notify you again about cleared updates. Yes, may come in handy for anti-virus, anti-malware, but even so, best to update manually if you like to keep your PC running 24/7/365 like I do. -- http://www.bootdisk.com/
